Promoting good hygiene and sanitation practices
Last year, Cambodia experienced flash floods where it was reported that 350,274 households (over 1.64 million people, including 700,000 children) were affected. The most affected provinces were Kandal, Kampong Cham, Kampong Thom, Kratie and Prey Veng.
UNICEF supported local authority staff in the most flood-effected provinces, to be trained on hygiene and sanitation practices and provided them with key communication materials. Following their training, the staff conducted hygiene and sanitation sessions with residents and school children in the communes.
